What If Being the Underdog Is Exactly What Makes You a Leader?

We’re told to wait until we’re ready. Until we have the credentials, the confidence, the plan. But what if leadership doesn’t come after the fear—but through it?
When we think of leaders, we often imagine certainty. Authority. A clear, polished path.
But real leadership? It often begins when everything feels uncertain. It’s born in the quiet, personal decision to follow what’s true for you—even when no one else sees the full picture yet.
It doesn’t start with knowing. It starts with trust.
And sometimes, it starts with being the underdog.
A Crossroads, A Collapse, A Calling
A few years ago, I stood at the edge of a life I had built brick by brick.
I had a successful career in interior design and real estate. I had spent decades raising three incredible children. I had checked all the boxes that were supposed to lead to fulfillment.
But something inside me had begun to shift.
For years, I had quietly explored the world of wellness—diving into sound healing, essential oils, clean beauty, and natural living. I had taken trainings, yes—but more than that, I had followed a deep, intuitive pull. A knowing. A whisper that there was another way of living—and serving—waiting for me.
Then one day, the vision came: a wellness studio of my own. A space to help others come home to themselves. I could feel it, clearly and fully. And yet…
I questioned it.
Was this enough? Could I really walk away from everything I’d built—into something that felt more aligned, but far less certain?
And then life answered for me.
After 28 years, my marriage came to an end. My husband saw that I had changed. And he was right. I could no longer live out of alignment with my soul.
That unraveling—heartbreaking and liberating—marked the beginning of everything new.
Was I the Underdog?
Absolutely.
I was starting over in midlife. With no guaranteed roadmap. With three kids and a vision that felt much bigger than my résumé.
But was I also a leader?
Without a doubt.
Because I kept going.
I leaned into my intuition. I kept learning. I started trained in Reiki, meditation, sacred ceremony, and yoga. But more than any title or technique, I led from a deeper place—presence.
Here’s What I’ve Come to Know:
Resilience is often quiet. It looks like taking one small, brave step at a time.
Vulnerability isn’t a hurdle to overcome—it’s a doorway to connection.
Leadership doesn’t require certainty. It requires honesty, humility, and heart.
You don’t need to wait until you’re “ready.”
You don’t need to have all the answers.
You just need to be willing to trust the path that’s calling you forward and leap.
Because that’s where real transformation begins.
📖 On June 21st, I’m Sharing my Story
I'm honoured to be a co-author in the new collaborative book Whispers of The Soul, launching this month.
In my chapter, titled The Tower, I share the story of how everything I had built had to fall apart—so I could rise into the life I was truly meant to live. It’s a reflection on growth, collapse, rebirth, and radical realignment… and a return to the deep inner knowing that this was who I truly was all along.
If you’ve ever felt like it was too late, too uncertain, or too overwhelming to begin again—this is for you.

Thank you for being part of this journey—as I continue to evolve, lead, and live from a place of deeper alignment.
My Message Is Simple:
You don’t have to choose between being the underdog or the leader.
You can be both. You can rise from the fall— and still lead with an open heart.
You can begin again—from any age, any moment, any breaking point—and create something deeply aligned.
You can step into the next version of yourself—not because you’re ready, but because you’re willing.
So if you’re standing at the edge of something right now—a dream, a decision, or a breakdown that feels like the end of everything…
Take a breath.
This might not be the end.
This might be the beginning.
Here’s to the underdogs who lead.
Here’s to the leaders who rise from the rubble.
And here’s to you—becoming everything you never thought you could be, once you finally stop holding yourself back.
